I travel to Arkansas every year. Hunt primarily flooded rice and soybean on public land. A layout boat gives me a huge advantage over all the others. You can tell where the birds are actively feeding in a field, take a layout and put it just inside the area where the birds have not quite reached yet. I cover mine with grass mats, throw out the decoys and wait. Really dont need a call as the birds are already coming anyhow. I do the same in MS on a lease out there.

Hey Misfire, I hunt puddle ducks out of my big water layout boat. Check out the below pics from a hunt first of the season for us in NC. Man i tell you, there is nothing like hunting out of a layout boats..We hunt divers, sea ducks and puddle ducks out of ours...Hope you have a good season..
